PAN card photo and signature size for NSDL and UTIITSL
What size is a PAN card photo?
A PAN card photo is 3.5 cm tall and 2.5 cm wide. Online applications go through NSDL (Protean) or UTIITSL, and each portal states its own pixel size and KB limit on the upload page.
GS DocSeva resizes and compresses your image inside your browser to the values you choose. Nothing is uploaded to any server.
Presets in this tool
| Preset | Pixels | File size | Format | Fit |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| NSDL Photo | 197 × 276 | up to 50 KB | JPG | Crop to fill |
| NSDL Signature | 354 × 157 | up to 50 KB | JPG | Fit inside, white background |
| UTIITSL Photo | 213 × 213 | up to 30 KB | JPG | Crop to fill |
| UTIITSL Signature | 400 × 200 | up to 60 KB | JPG | Fit inside, white background |
| Common 200×230 | 200 × 230 | 20 – 50 KB | JPG | Crop to fill |
Note: These are the values commonly published for each portal. Portals update their rules and different guides list different numbers, so the values on your own upload page always win. Type them into the width, height and KB boxes if they differ.
How to resize a PAN card photo online
- Choose your photo. It is resized with the NSDL Photo preset straight away.
- Pick the preset for your portal (NSDL or UTIITSL), or enter your own width, height and KB.
- Check the green tick under the resized preview. It confirms the file is inside the limit.
- Click Download Resized Image and upload the file on the portal.
- Repeat with your signature using a Signature preset.
Why PAN photos and signatures get rejected
- File size over the limit. Even 1 KB over can fail. This tool picks the best quality that still fits under your KB limit.
- Wrong dimensions. NSDL and UTIITSL use different sizes, and a signature is not the same size as a photo. Use the matching preset.
- Stretched or badly cropped face. The tool crops from the centre instead of stretching. Start from a sharp, front-facing original.
- Poor background or ink. Use a plain light background for the photo, and dark ink on white paper for the signature.
